Response to Therapy
This trial examined the response of skin cholesterol to cholesterol-lowering medications.
The results showed that skin cholesterol responded to cholesterol-lowering therapy (statin drugs). Patients taking statins showed parallel changes in skin cholesterol and serum cholesterol (LDL), and in individuals whose LDL rose (most likely because they stopped taking their medication) skin cholesterol levels also increased.
